Families often look for tutoring that actually creates meaningful progress, not generic homework help or worksheets. At Windmill Education Center, we provide individualized, evidence-based dyslexia and academic tutoring for students in PreK through 12th grade in Minnetonka, Wayzata, Plymouth, and surrounding communities. Our goal is to help your child build the skills, confidence, and long-term success they need for school and beyond.
Our team focuses on understanding each child’s learning profile and delivering targeted interventions that help them grow. Whether your child needs structured literacy tutoring, writing support, executive function coaching, or math intervention, we create tutoring plans that match their developmental and academic needs.
Dyslexia and Academic Tutoring Services
As a dyslexia specialist, advocate, and certified tutor herself, Dr. Amy understands how critical high quality intervention is. She created Windmill Education Center in 2015 after seeing how many families struggled to find specialized support even after receiving a thorough evaluation. Today, our tutoring program provides targeted, research-supported instruction tailored to each learner.
Our tutors are selected for their warmth, expertise, and commitment to student growth. Families consistently share that they feel supported and encouraged throughout the tutoring process. Many students, including teenagers, request extra sessions once they begin experiencing real progress.
Specialized Dyslexia Tutoring
Our dyslexia and reading intervention services are grounded in the Science of Reading and structured literacy instruction. Each program is personalized based on your child’s unique evaluation results, learning style, and goals.
Dyslexia Tutoring - We offer systematic reading intervention using programs such as the Barton or Wilson method. These structured literacy approaches support decoding, fluency, spelling, and confidence with reading and writing.
Bilingual Dyslexia Tutoring - For students in Spanish-immersion, we offer sessions with a native Spanish-speaking tutor who provides dyslexia intervention in both Spanish and English.
Integrated Dyslexia and Speech-Language Sessions - Some learners benefit from a combined approach. Our speech-language pathologists provide speech-language services that integrate literacy instruction with targeted language support, including phonological awareness, expressive language development, and vocabulary growth.
This combined model is especially effective for students whose literacy challenges overlap with language-based learning needs.
ADHD, Executive Function, Writing, and Math Tutoring
Many students benefit from support that goes beyond reading. Our team also offers intervention in writing, executive functioning, and math, with strategies designed to build independence and reduce frustration at home and school.
ADHD and Executive Function Coaching - Middle school and high school students often need support with planning, organization, time management, and task initiation. Our coaching helps students build practical strategies to stay focused and complete assignments with greater ease.
We also collaborate with our ADHD coaching team when students may benefit from more in-depth executive function support.
Homework Help - Support for students in grades 6–12. This service is especially helpful for students with ADHD, anxiety, or organizational challenges who need structure and accountability.
Math Tutoring - We provide math tutoring from kindergarten through AP calculus. Instruction focuses on building foundational number sense, problem-solving strategies, and confidence with grade-level or advanced math work.
Writing Tutoring - Our tutors help middle and high school students strengthen writing skills including spelling, organization, sentence structure, grammar, and idea development. Support includes both academic writing and creative expression.
Evidence-Based Training and Collaboration
All dyslexia and reading tutors at Windmill Education Center complete LETRS or AIM Pathways training. These programs are grounded in the Science of Reading and equip tutors with the skills needed to deliver effective, research-supported instruction.
Our team also includes speech-language pathologists who bring expertise in language development, which is closely tied to literacy. Their training helps ensure that tutoring sessions address the underlying components of reading and writing, not just surface-level skills.
Collaborating with families and schools is an essential part of our approach. Tutors meet with parents to review progress and discuss home support strategies. With parent permission, they may also collaborate with your child’s teacher or consult directly with Dr. Amy to promote consistent support across environments.
This team-based model helps your child make meaningful, lasting progress.
