Families often come to us when they notice their child is struggling with reading, writing, attention, or overall school performance. You may be seeing signs that something deeper is happening and want clear answers about how to support your child. These concerns are very common, and reaching out is the first step toward understanding your child’s needs.
Dr. Amy Schulting and her team provide comprehensive learning evaluations, that include testing for dyslexia and ADHD, for students in PreK through 12th grade. We serve families in Minnetonka, Wayzata, Plymouth, Eden Prairie, and nearby communities. Some families travel to our clinic from across Minnesota and from out-of-state as well. Our goal is to help you understand what your child needs so you can confidently support their success at school and at home.
A high-quality evaluation goes well beyond diagnosing a single issue. It gives you a full picture of how your child learns, what is getting in the way, and the best next steps for moving forward.
Dr. Amy Schulting and her team of experienced psychologists offer comprehensive diagnostic evaluations that explore academic skills, attention, anxiety, mood, social functioning, emotion regulation, and behavioral patterns. Evaluations are tailored to each child and are designed to answer your specific questions.
We gather insight through parent interviewing, child interviewing, teacher feedback, psychological and academic testing, and structured clinical observation. When we understand how your child learns and where gaps may be appearing, we can recommend the most effective interventions.
Our team is also highly experienced in working with gifted and twice exceptional students. These learners often show exceptional reasoning or creativity along with challenges in reading, writing, organization, or attention. Identifying both strengths and vulnerabilities is essential for helping twice exceptional children thrive.

We begin by meeting with parents to learn about your child’s developmental history, academic background, strengths, concerns, and school experiences. This helps us tailor the evaluation to your child’s specific needs.
Teachers and Tutors provide valuable insight into how your child learns in the classroom. We use this information to understand patterns across environments.
Testing typically occurs over one or two sessions depending on your child’s age and unique needs. We use research-supported assessments for dyslexia evaluations, ADHD testing, academic performance, memory, processing speed, executive functioning, and emotional functioning.
All test results are carefully reviewed and interpreted. We build a detailed report that explains findings clearly and outlines recommended supports and next steps.
A final evaluation session is completed with your child and Dr. Amy Schulting and then results and recommendations are provided immediately during the parent session.
After the final report, we offer a follow-up academic consultation to help you plan interventions and collaborate with your child’s school. During this session, we may discuss next steps such as structured literacy tutoring or ADHD coaching based on your child’s learning profile.
Most evaluations are completed over a 3 to 4 week period. The process includes an initial parent intake interview, a full day of in-person testing at our Minnetonka or Burnsville location, an online session for additional testing with Dr. Amy Schulting, and a final Results and Recommendations meeting with parents. Families receive the final diagnostic report within two weeks, often sooner.
Our evaluations also screen for speech and language concerns.
If additional testing is needed, we may recommend a dedicated speech-language services evaluation that looks more closely at phonological processing and language development.
An informal autism screening is included when appropriate. However, formal diagnostic autism testing is not part of this evaluation.
If autism is a primary concern, we can help direct you to trusted colleagues who specialize in that assessment.
Parents often reach out when they notice:
If any of these signs sound familiar, a comprehensive evaluation can clarify what is going on and provide a clear plan for supporting your child’s growth.
Many families explore additional support after the evaluation, including dyslexia tutoring for reading and spelling challenges, or executive function coaching to help teens and young adults build planning and organizational skills.
When appropriate, we may also recommend services such as:
